League Information

Leagues:
Our leagues have 3 Divisions run by grade level/age.  All divisions are co-ed.  You do not have to be a resident of Central Bucks to register.

They are:

Division 1 (5th/6th Grades)Division Director – Art Bass: bassart9@gmail.com   This is a non-competitive, co-ed division with kids who are just starting out in the sport along with kids with experience.

Division 2 (7th/8th Grades)Division Director – Jason Ostrander: ostranders@mac.com   This is a non-competitive, co-ed division with a mixture of kids with experience and  kids just learning the sport.   At this level, they are learning the game so there’s more rallies, more ball skills and lots of kids serving overhand.

Division 3 (9th thru 12th Grades)Division and League Director – Sherri Belfus: sherribelfus@gmail.com    This division is more competitive with playoffs the last week of the season. Trophies or Medals will be awarded to the winning team. It's a mix of high school players, club players, intermediate players and some beginner players.

Opportunities to play are as follows:

WINTER SKILLS ‘N DRILLS CLINICS

The goal of the clinics is to learn skills and practice them, and have as many touches on the ball as possible. They’re run by our league directors and assorted local high school coaches and players. Clinics are held at Tohickon Middle school weekly on Tuesday nights with 3 sessions each Tuesday night starting November 8th and running through to the end of March:

Session 1: 5th to 6th Grade from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
Session 2: 7th to 10th Grade from 7:30 to 8:30 pm.
Session 3: 7th to 12th Grade open play from 8:30 to 9:30.

Clinics are Co-Ed. There’s a $5 drop in fee at the door each time you participate. If you’d like to attend, please register your child by emailing me at sherribelfus@gmail.com and I’ll add you to the email distribution list.  A weekly email is sent to the distribution list asking if your child is in or out for that week.  Simply respond if they’re in and what division (grade level). If they’re not attending that week, no need to respond.   It’s helpful to me if you’ve registered so I know how many to expect.

SUMMER VOLLEYBALL-

DAA’s Summer volleyball league is a blast!  We've changed it up a bit this year, with two divisions. The league will have an advanced program for kids who are planning to play on their high school JV or Varsity teams and a recreational program for all others in grades 7-12.  This will be a 4's league played at Fanny Chapman outdoor sand courts. The rosters will be constructed with the knowledge that players will be away for vacations throughout the season, making it possible to continue weekly play.  This is a self directed league, no coaches needed.   Come with your own team or register individually and we’ll form the teams. If registering with your own team, please list teammates under the comments section when registering. Schedules get set up with several time slots, either 7:00 to 7:45 , 7:45 to 8:30, or 8:30 to 9:15 for regulation play. Opportunity for open play from 9:15 to 10:00.  Open play is whatever the kids want to play…pick up games, doubles, threes or whatever they feel like.

Coaches & Assistant Coaches

As with all DAA sports, our volunteer coaches are the lifeblood of our programs. Without coaches, we can not run them. I encourage all of you to volunteer to coach or be an assistant coach for a season. I guarantee you’ll enjoy it and want to do it every season. Its fun, stress-free and only an hour of your time for 7 or 8 weeks. And you get invited to the coaches party which is a blast!   All we need is people with enthusiasm. We’ll show you the basics.  We also need volunteers to help with running the program.  As our program continues to grow, we are expanding our Board and are in need of volunteers to fill the following positions:

Registration Coordinator-  Volunteer needed to help put teams together using Sportsengine's website.  Excel spreadsheet experience helpful.  Approximately 6- 8 hours in the beginning of each season.

Website Coordinator-  Volunteer needed to maintain and make changes to our Daa Volleyball website as needed.  Approximately 2-4 hours a month.

Advertising Coordinator-  Volunteer needed to set up advertising in advance of each season with local newspapers, website updates and sign makers.  There's also a need to have the ability to pick up and place signs at the schools twice a year once registration opens, or coordinate the placement.  Approximately 2-4 hours in advance of Spring and Fall season.

Social Media Advisor-  Volunteer needed to set up Facebook page and use Social Media to promote and reach out to the community about registration and the happenings in Daa Volleyball.  Approximately 2-4 hours a month.

Youth Advisor-  Volunteer (preferably a young adult, former Daa volleyball person who has gone through the program) needed to help us stay current with kids wants/needs and ways to communicate well with them.

Uniform Coordinator- Volunteer needed to order uniforms, coordinate pick up and delivery of uniforms in a timely way before or as our season starts.  Approximately 2-4 hours before each season starts, Spring, Summer and Fall.

Interested?  Please email me at sherribelfus@gmail.com and we'll set up a meeting or phone conversation to discuss questions/comments etc.

Let’s get started!

If interested in coaching or being an assistant coach, you'lll need to do the following:

1. Check off the coaching box in the online registration form.
2. Start the process for a background check.  Simply go to Daa’s home page and click on the top right tab labeled “Background Check”. It walks you through the process.  It’s a multi step process so please stay with it and know that it will take some time for you to fill out the appropriate paperwork.  All volunteers are required to submit a background check and Daa is currently paying for Act 34 Background Check (Pennsylvania State Police) and  Act 151 Clearance (Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearances).  The FBI Criminal Background check is not paid for by Daa but is not required if you can confirm the following:

• The position is an unpaid position OR for an employee or independent contractor age 14-17 (e.g., junior referees and umpires).
• The volunteer has continuously resided in Pennsylvania for the past 10 years; and,
• He/she swears or affirms in writing that they are not disqualified from service based upon a conviction for one of the enumerated offenses of 23 Pa.C.S.A. § 6344(c).

If you have the background check from a previous year or organization, they can be used by Daa by submitting the above mentioned paperwork to both of the following email addresses:

Sales@ssci2000.com
DoyAA153@gmail.com

Once you’ve gone through the process, the background check is good for 5 years.
